International Handbooks and Opportunities

Universities from Australia and the US are great sources of information about international legal opportunities. They are not as tailored to New Zealand students so some of the content will be less relevant to you. Use them to get a feel for the area of law and find tips on how to apply for jobs in the area. The specific opportunities may also be relevant if you’re keen to work overseas: there are great chances to do work in US and they’ll often be delighted to hear from an international applicant. The following handbooks could be a great place to start:

Monash International Legal Careers Guide

Harvard – Public International Development Career guide

Harvard – Careers in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

Harvard – Environmental-Trail-Guide

Yale – International Public Interest Law

Finding and Funding International Opps Guide

Yale – Opportunities with International Tribunals and Foreign Courts

Wayne State University – Internet resource guide

Harvard – Quick Guide to Working on Political Campaigns (with a US focus)

Yale – Public Interest Fellowships (US)

Penn State – Guide to Public Interest Opps and Careers
